Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides.
  4. Transfer the browned meatballs to your slow cooker.
  5. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  6. Pour in the beef broth, ketchup, and Dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry.
  8. Pour the cornstarch slurry into the simmering sauce and stir until thickened.
  9. Pour the sauce over the meatballs in the slow cooker.
  10. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  11. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar to the sauce. You can also garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
