Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ziti pasta, uncooked
  • 1 pound ground beef, browned and drained
  • 1 (24 ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the browned ground beef, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Pour half of the meat sauce mixture into the bottom of a greased slow cooker.
  3. Top with half of the uncooked ziti pasta and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  4. Repeat layers with the remaining meat sauce, pasta, and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours, or until pasta is tender.
  6. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use Italian sausage instead of ground beef. You can also add vegetables like mushrooms, bell peppers, or onions to the meat sauce.
