This Mozzarella Chicken in Basil Cream Sauce is a quick and easy weeknight meal that’s bursting with flavor. Tender chicken breasts are smothered in a creamy basil sauce and topped with melted mozzarella for a truly irresistible dish.

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes per side, until lightly browned.
  5. Remove skillet from heat.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and minced garlic.
  7. Stir in chopped basil.
  8. Pour basil cream sauce over chicken breasts.
  9. Top with mozzarella cheese slices.
  10. Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
