Perfect Best Chili Recipe

This chili recipe is hearty, flavorful, and perfect for a chilly evening. It’s packed with ground beef, beans, and spices for a comforting and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, tomato sauce, and diced green chilies.
  4. Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the more the flavors will meld together.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped onions.

Notes

For a thicker chili, you can mash some of the beans before adding them to the pot. You can also adjust the amount of chili powder and cayenne pepper to your liking.
