This classic Beef and Broccoli recipe delivers tender beef and crisp broccoli florets in a savory garlic-ginger sauce. It’s a quick and easy weeknight dinner that’s healthier and tastier than takeout!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sliced steak with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and sesame oil. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until bright green and slightly tender-crisp.
  4. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch.
  6. Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  8. Serve the beef and broccoli over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds, if desired.

Notes

For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce. Serve with brown rice for a healthier option.
